A little About me
Hello! My name is Yanelia Fernandez, and I’ve recently completed my undergraduate degree in Adolescent English Education and Students with Disabilities. I student-taught on Long Island, working with 7th, 11th, and 12th grade students. Throughout my undergraduate studies, I also worked as a writing tutor, assisting undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students with creative and academic writing. At my university’s writing center, I collaborated with reference librarians to ensure the best possible support for the students I tutored. Over the past few years, I’ve also served as a teaching assistant for English language learners (ELLs), Students with Disabilities, and students in gifted education. Most recently, I’ve begun volunteering at a local museum, where I help catalog and digitize artifacts within their archives.
I enjoy reading and exploring various art forms in my spare time, from writing and painting to photography and multimedia projects. I’m passionate about self-exploration and understanding the world through creativity. As a former college athlete, I also play recreational soccer and participate in distance running.
